badchris- 01-24-2008
10 € to 17 € with no new exra bonus. Who has heard "Angola" ? I can't wait

neilo- 01-24-2008
Inexplicably, the Amazon price for the deluxe edition now doesn't have any discount and is the full $20.98

I guess we'll have to see whether they change the price again.

I pre-ordered while it was still $16.99 and the price hasn't gone up in my order status. It is the deluxe edition.

I just received an email from All Songs Considered.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...cc=asc-20080125

This week's music:
QUOTE
All Songs Considered, January 24, 2008 - This week features music from the late Central American artist Andy Palacio, a preview of new music from Patty Larkin, folk-driven rock from Lightspeed Champion, a return from the Kinks' Ray Davies and the British electronic pop group Hot Chip. With host Bob Boilen.

The song on the page to listen to is "Peace in Our Time"

The link to purchase the album goes to the deluxe CD/DVD at Amazon which is back to the $16.99 price (by the way, when you do pre-order from Amazon if they change the price, your pre=order price stays the same unless the price goes down and then you get that price).

At the Virgin Records at NYC's Union Square, they had an Brit import CD of WMC but it only had the songs issued on the Sunday Times freebie - it didn't include the 2 bonus tracks issued on the regular CD release - Virgin was asking $24.99.

Did they repackage the returned CDs from unsold papers to sell in foreign markets or is this how Richard Branson is funding his new supersonic rocketship?

BTW - it was packaged in a normal CD jewelry case and it looks like it included a booklet - not just the cardboard cover of the freebie CD.

Thanks for the info, Neil. I was able to go to Amazon today and order the deluxe WMC at the sale price. As you say, if anyone did happen to order it while the price was higher, Amazon will still just charge them the lowest price offered between now and the release date. But still, I had put off my order, waiting to see if the price would go back to the initial discounted offer... just seems a bit more secure to see that lower price on your order summary... Now it's "hurry up and wait" time!!! raydavies/cheeky-smiley-004.gif

I just ordered it too. Thanks so much for the info! I already had the 10 track newspaper edition thanks to one of my great friends in Kinksland. I also got it e-mailed to me from another wonderful friend and I managed to get the 12 track version on to my ipod before the 12 tracks mysteriously dissappeared from my itunes - not in the order as the album goes though. But now I have one of those gizmos that you plug in to your cigarette lighter in your car, tune the gizmo to an unused FM frequency, plug your gizmo in to your ipod, tune the car radio to that same frequency, and presto chango! 'Working Man's Cafe'or whatever else might make me smile.. I got the gizmo because 'Other People's Lives' got jammed in to my piece of shit Chevy CD player, and precludes me from using it. On the bright side, now all I need is my gizmo and my ipod and I'm driving around without a bunch of CD's in my console. raydavies/cheeky-smiley-004.gif

The Music Today store now has the regular CD, the deluxe CD/DVD, and the LP. The order page is at
http://clicks1.musictoday.com/cts/click?q=...nHummcK1Q%3D%3D

Also, DeepDiscount has the regular CD and deluxe CD/DVD
(While DeepDiscount is often the least expensive and has free shipping, they can be frustrating to use - I've had CDs and DVDs that have been lost in the mail and have arrived damaged. In all cases DeepDiscount has replaced the missing or damaged items. So, if you are in a rush to get items I would not recommend them.)

It appears that it is full steam ahead for the New West release of Working Man's Cafe. I received a promo copy this week. I saw the Americana video and thought it was quite interesting. The new bonus tracks are also quite nice.

New West has no information at this time about how the Americana film will continue or what is the upcoming project "Ripper".

There's a full page advertisement for the album in the new (March '08) issue of Paste, and at the bottom it says "on tour this spring".
