At any given moment in the day, if you asked me what songs were on my mental soundtrack, I could tell you three or four (channel-surfing in my brain) and one of them would just about always be a Kinks song. So whoever reads this -- quick, type in the name of the Kinks song that's teasing your brain today.

For me today it would be Have Another Drink -- "Has everybody got problems? Are you stuck in a dead end job?..."

(Tells you what my day has been like...)

Money & Corruption/I am your Man..

Money and Corruption
Are ruining the land
Crooked politicians
Betray the working man,
Pocketing the profits
And treating us like sheep,
And we're tired of hearing promises
That we know they'll never keep.

ie...see my post on Misc. 13, October! laugh.gif

Lying awake, in a cold cold sweat
Am I overdrawn, am I going in debt?
It gets worse - the older that you get...

My signature tune. laugh.gif laugh.gif

The one song that always plays is Spotty Grotty Anna and Demolition. Can anyone tell me if Spotty Grotty Anna was born out of a jam session, and who wrote it?

The song in my head is Dri-i-i-i-i-iving!

I hated my lesson today, so will be mainly having a big strop about being a big failure! LOL

Right now, it's London Song as I just received my EP and can't stop playing it. What fun it must have been to be the backup singers on that track! Since I missed out on The Storyteller tour & CD all 4 tunes are new to me. Get's better with every listen.

The past days It's been raining in Madrid, and I've been feeling a bit gloomy this morning. At some stage, this has been in my head:

Met a girl, fell in love, glad as I can be
But I think all the time, is she true to me?
'Cause there's nothing in this world to stop me worryin' 'bout that girl

Right now, I have "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" ( To the Bone version) constantly playing in my head, which is fine. I love that "Davey, Davey, Dave" part right before the guitar solo, which is the main thing I'm hearing.

I'm feeling a bit out of the loop lately and have to justify myself, although when I mention The Kinks to anyone I get a blank stare followed by "WHO"? If people are old enough, they'll just dismiss it with a "oh, that band that did Lola", as if they were one hit wonders. Arrrrghhhh.

No wonder I feel as if INLEE so much lately.

The other song would have to be "Rainy Day in June", although its not June, here in Connecticut we've had as much rain since last Thursday as we usually have in a year. Flood warnings in effect, and maybe the whole state will just "Drift Away".

I've been listening a lot to the Preservation albums recently and I've really discovered them. I knew all the songs, but I hadn't realised how good they are and I hadn't cared much about the lyrics. Now I really thing they are VERY GOOD albums. So one song I've had all day in mind is the bonus track "Preservation".

I've also been thinking a lot on "A long way from home", for me one of the best and more-underrated songs ever.

"...yes you're still, a long way from home."

"Sitting in the Midday Sun" -- which is wishful thinking, given the deluge in New York this week ... "everybody thinks I'm crazy, and everybody says I'm dumb, but when I see the people shoutin' at each other, I'd rather be an out-of-work bum..."
