ahhh let's face it the KINKS are a FCUKING GREAT BAND and I hope that Dave and Ray get back together because whether they realize it or not they need each other..and I need them...

I'm with you on that, Frank. As Great as Monday night's show was, on so many songs I found myself wanting to sing along with the harmonies because they didn't seem complete otherwise. I wouldn't even call them harmonies -- it's duets, really, that second voice is so essential, and a second voice that blends with Ray's as perfectly as Dave's does.

What a great fcuking song...I can't believe none of the modern day famous garage bands other than the Smithereens offshoot band Buzzed Meg didn't cover that song... imagine The White Stripes, Strokes, Foo Fighters, Nirvanna, Pearl Jam, Local H, the Hives, Vines, Darkness, The Datsuns, covering that song...
It's such a great driving rocking song...when Buzzed Meg did it it sounded like off the Who Live at Leeds album if you can just imagine that kind of intensity!!!?

A radio station Q104.3 in NY just did their 3 of 3 theme trivia song game at 3PM that they do every day and they played...
Apeman as part of the theme for the release of the new King Kong Movie...I wanted to call them and tell them the Kinks even had a better song ( King Kong )than that to use and it was even more on the money. They also used Is she really going out with him by Joe Jackson, for his gorilla reference, and I forgot what the 3rd song was?

I heard the "3 at 3" also - I was impressed when the DJ went into detail, telling the listeners that Apeman came from the "Lola Versus Powerman and the Money-go-round" CD - and even gave the track number too (#12, I think).

I also thought that "King Kong" would have been a more natural choice, but it was still nice to hear "Apeman".

The Q104.3 DJ who did the 3 at 3 Wednesday was Bob Buchman, I know him from way back when he was on WBAB on Long Island and I use to run in to him every so often at shows including some Kinks shows, but Jerry Martir on Q104. 3 is a pretty big Kinks fan too. He went to Boston College with my ex girlfrfeind Sherry Bowman ( from Croton on Hudson , NY, which is also where I met and became friends with Ira Kaplan who years later formed Yo Le Tengo ) anyway Sherry and Ira helped me run The Kinks Preservation Society Fan club in the 70's. Jerry Martir recently played a block of The Kinks for me and talked about them ( and me ) on the air for a while. I sent him one of the kinks preservation society bumperstickers. I still can't think of what the 3rd song they played today as part of that 3 at 3. It wasn't Monkey Man by the Stones, or Me and My Monkey by the Beatles, or Shock the Monkey by Gabriel....???

Just looking at the calendar. that's it . End of the Kinks Year, no more gigs, had a brill Konvention, so the song in my head now is not a Kinks number : it's sloppy :
" when shall i see you again, when shall we share precious moments ".

I can get off my head autumm almanaque. That's imposible to translate it to me (cause my ocabulary is poor yet), so words like drew, caterpilar and a lot of them that I hear and really don't know what it is......
Anyone that translate to me into spanish?

I undestand perfectly what you say about Autumn Almanac because I've always had the same problems with this song. It's too English and once I tried to translate it, but didn't understand the real meaning even in Spanish! Anyway, I'll try to make it and if it becomes something coherent I'll pass it to you.
